Unblur The Lines

Unblur The Lines is an interactive social campaign aimed at the separation of church and state. In recent years, the lines between religion and politics have been blurred, with politicians using their own religious beliefs to sign laws, even though not everyone is the same religion.

The campaign focuses on four case studies of laws and bills from recent years, breaking them down to current political and religious tensions. Each case study briefly describes the bill or law, who it was signed by, a quote said by a politician in relation to the law, and then information in regards to how the law affects different groups of people.

Our goal was to create a platform that highlights the issues created when religion and politics mix. This print and digital campaign includes different components to reach as wide of an audience as possible. An interactive poster series, informational zines, call to action sticker sheets, an Instagram account, and website were all created to educate and inform viewers.

The call to action for viewers is to #lookitup and #knowthefacts to encourage viewers to know the right information. A collage of protest imagery was used to show both sides of the debate, as well as religious related paintings and iconography.

Tying the campaign into the digital space, a website was built out along with an Instagram account where viewers could read about the different case studies that the campaign highlights. The QR codes on the posters, zines, and stickers lead to the website.
